Community

I. People in a community have things in common.

Proverbs 22:2
Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all.

We are a community of Believers!

~ Common Faith

Titus 1:4
To Titus, my true son in our common faith:

Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Jude 1:3(KJV)
Common salvation

~ Common Temptations & escape routes

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

~ Common Possessions

Acts 2:44-45
All the believers were together and had everything in common.

They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.

Acts 4:32-35 All the believers were one in heart and mind.

No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.

With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them.

For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them,

brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet,

and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

II. People in a community have UNITY!

~ Unity is a choice

2 Chronicles 30:12
Also in Judah the hand of God was on the people to give them unity of mind

to carry out what the king and his officials had ordered, following the word of the LORD.

~ Untity is a blessing

Psalm 133:1
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

~ The world is watching believers

John 17:23
I in them and you in me–so that they may be brought to complete unity.

Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

~ Unity takes effort

Ephesians 4:1-3
As a prisoner for the Lord, then,

I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
