Body Building (4) Bible Study Hebrews 5:11-6:3 TIME PLUS USE OF TRUTH = MATURITY PRAY READ PRAY 1. Spoon full of honey Psalm 19:9b-10 The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. Studying the Bible on your own 2. Topical study 3. Textual study 4. Exegetical study 1) What does it say ~ Observation ~ 2) What does it mean ~ Interpretation ~ 3) How do I apply it to my life ~ Application ~ ~ Memorization ~ Isaiah 55:6-13 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater. so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it–not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it– they will be blessed in what they do. Let God's Word change your life as you respond correctly to it!

7 Grace Gifts Romans 12:3-7 (page 1137) 1 Peter 4:10-11 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Ephesians 4:11 Four positions of leadership Personal Trainers Apostles and Prophets Evangelists Pastors & Teachers THE PURPOSE (12-13) 1) To equip each Christian for works of service. 2) To build up the body 3) UNITY In FAITH & KNOWLEDGE ALL MATURE! * KNOW WHAT YOU BELIEVE & BELIEVE & LIVE WHAT YOU KNOW! (15-16) The body / church will grow into its head / Christ THE KEY: (16b) Each part doing its work 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body–whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free– and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. Ask God what your spiritual gift is, and where you have been called to serve. Then get busy serving the Lord by serving others.

    I. Why did Jesus Come? Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 10:34-39 (page: 975) John 6:38-40 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” II. Today Jesus is preparing a place for us in His neighborhood FOCUS ON ETERNITY (HEAVEN) NOT THIS WORLD! III. Today Jesus is preparing us for Heaven A. Salvation (6) B. Personal relationship with God through his son Jesus (8-9) C. Believers demonstrate the power of God to their world by faith (12) D. Believers are experiencing the power of prayer (13-14) 1 John 5:13-15 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him.

Understand the difference between wants and needs Philippians 4:12-13 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. Trust God to meet our needs Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 9:11-12 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
